Even more competition

As if having to beat Wildfire and the Fax each week were not enough, there is Saga and Just in Time at the BYC, the ever consistent Sunview Homes and Just Jones at the DSS and RYCT, and the ubiquitous Rousabout is everywhere. Any, and sometimes all, of these boats can clean us up on their day, and often do!

This is what makes sailing in the 9 Metre division such intense, and satisfying fun. Whenever you get a result you can be fairly certain that you deserve it!

More competition

If we cant beat "The Fax", then Wildfire is next on the list, though this is getting much harder to do lately. Former sailing partner Mal Robinson has been quietly developing Team Wildfire into a strongly competitive unit that are getting consistently outstanding results this season. A beautiful Farr IMS 31, Wildfire leaves us all in her wake in lighter airs, and is getting better and better in medium to heavy conditions. On her day she is almost unbeatable - sadly!

The Competition

First among foes is Shadowfax, the boat we most love to beat (because it is the hardest!).

Always beautifully sailed, and never beaten till the gun goes and you have driven a stake through their hearts, Shadowfax is the boat to beat at the BYC - or anywhere else she sails. Matt Westlands is thoroughly knowledgable, fiercely competitive, and frightfully consistent. He is aided and abetted by a great crew who all sail hard and play nicely. Trouble and "The Fax" have a friendly rivalry where the friendship and the rivalry are there in equal abundance.

So far, so good for season 09/10

Trouble is going well so far this season. As far as I can tell we are:

- leading the RYCT pennant from Sunview Homes (after a drop)
- equal first with Just Jones in the DSS pennant (after a drop)
- equal first with Just in Time in the BYC pennant (after a drop)

As usual, we are doing very poorly in the BYC twilights!

Maria Island Race Start

This was one race that I was glad we missed!

It was a wild and wooley start to the 2009 Maria Race.

I have posted some photos of the start to Trouble's Picasa galleries here
